SKHWAMA is simply translated from an African language as a “Bag”
The company SKHWAMA was founded in 2021 by Francis Tlomatsana. Currently possesing over 10 years of Sales and Marketing experience in the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries, he developed an urge to pursue his entrepreneurial side. This urge was further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic as he realised the importance of creating multiple sources of income.
He realized that the bag market in South Africa was an untapped market, full of niche and expensive products. There were no easily identifiable local brands that consumers that could easily associate with and afford. The journey then started to create a local brand of high quality but that can be easily accessed in terms of cost. After spending over a year working closely with a local manufacturer in South Africa to conceptualize and develop a product, SKHWAMA was born. The vision is to create a leading bag brand on the African continent through Innovative and Youthful designs.
